"Players of the Week" Week of: Apr. 9th

Boys Track- Shawn Lake Grade: 11 Years of experience: 3 Events:4x800m relay, 1600m, 3200m Reasons for selection: Shawn lake is my selection for athlete of the week because he is an all around outstanding athlete. He was chosen as one of our three captains this year as he is respected by both athletes and coaches for his leadership through his actions and words. Shawn leads the distance runners in their practices, and encourages them to push themselves as hard as he does himself. Shawn consistenly places in his events, and is always closely followed by other Sayre distance runners in our meets. This past weekend at the Mansfield invitational, Shawn took 2nd place in the 3200m out of a field of over 20 competitors. Congratulations to Shawn Lake as athlete of the week. Girls Track- Throwing Team Grade: 2008 team Years of experience: 4 Events- Throwing Reasons for selection: The girls throwing team has dominated in the shot, disc, and jav in each of our meets. Keep up the great work! Baseball- Andy Podolinski Grade: 12 Years of experience: 4 Position: Pitcher Reasons for selection: Andy is a power in the sport of baseball across the region. His presense on the mound allows Sayre to compete with anyone. We are looking for good things from Andy this year. Softball- Christina Webster Grade: 12 Years of experience: 4th year Position(s): pitcher Reasons for selection: Christina has worked hard all year to become the best pitcher she can be and has ,so far, been the driving force to keep us in games.
